A Reminder on Halloween!

PuppySpot reached out to me and asked me to remind all of you pet parents about the potential risks and dangers that surround Halloween. I thought this was a great idea and so without further ado...

Weekend Recap

Finally checking in today! Been very busy around here lately. Last Friday Sienna and I met my sister in law and her kids for dinner at a fun outdoor restaurant that has a play area for the kids. Sienna watched her cousins run around and she had so much fun! I can't wait until she can get out there with them. Afterwards, we ran to a store to "shop". We didn't buy anything because lets face it, it's not really shopping when you have 3 little kids with you. We were really just trying to tire them out and get them all in bed by 8pm. Success!!!

On Saturday Jon and I opened a bank account for Sienna which we've really been meaning to do so we were glad to get that out of the way. After some more not-so-fun things {laundry} we headed up to my moms house where she hosted a group reading by The Baltimore Medium. We have had sessions with KC for years! Funny story: last year I was newly pregnant with Sienna and only my mom and sister knew. My mom hosted a group reading for her friends and I was not there. KC told my mom that I was pregnant in front of all of her friends not knowing we were trying to keep it a secret. Oops!! And she also told my mom that the baby was a girl. Three months later an ultrasound did indeed confirm that we were having a baby girl!

On Sunday morning we dropped Si off at my grandparents house for her to spend the day. Then we went to Hawk's Hollow Farm where they were having a fall family festival. I brought my Matilda Jane samples. Lots of little girls and mamas stopped by :)

Now we are well into the week with a to-do list that seems never ending! One thing to look forward to: my birthday this Friday and Sienna's first Halloween next week!!! Woohoo

Baby Products You Don't Need

1. NoseFrida $16

Image result for nosefrida

The bulb syringe that the hospital gives you worked just fine for us. I don't see why we would need anything else to clear Sienna's nose. I'm still using it. Plus am I the only one that can't get over the thought of sucking the snot out of your kid's nose?

2. Bottle warmer $25

Image result for bottle warmer

Call me old-fashioned but I just put water in a bowl and heat it in the microwave 1-2 minutes and then submerge the bottle in the bowl for another 2 minutes. I just don't see the need for a bottle warmer that won't save me much time anyways.

3. Wipe warmer $20

I must be the meanest mama on the planet because my baby girl gets wiped with room temperature wipes! Some people may call it cold but come-on. Your child will survive and thrive without warm wipes, this I promise you.

4. Boppy pillow $40

Breastfeeding didn't go well for us so we only did it for a little while and I used a regular old pillow to prop up underneath us. That regular old pillow did just fine! And I used it often while bottle feeding as well.

5. Dockatot or co-sleeper $175

We tried a co-sleeper and it wasn't our thang. The baby didn't like it and it took up too much space in our bed. She slept in the pack n play which included a bassinet. We have this one! When she was 3 months old we moved her into her crib. Now the pack n play is used for when she sleeps over her grandparents house. So we have gotten much use out of our pack n play!!!

What Makeup Products I Use

I'm not a HUGE makeup person. I have 6 products that I use on a daily basis and they are all drug store purchases except for the mascara. I like to keep things simple and inexpensive. These are tried and true items that are essential for me and I'm glad to share them with you!

Physicians Formula mineral loose powder in natural beige
Covergirl m3 foundation in golden beige
Maybelline 24k nudes eyeshadow pallet
Maybelline lipstick in twinkle #705
Mac brush #190 {to apply the illumination powder}

If I'm going out with friends or maybe on a date with my husband, I'll add some eyeliner and maybe a darker eye shadow. I'll also throw on a little sparkle and lip color! But that's about it. Here's what I use:

The Body Shop brilliance powder {discontinued}
Lipsense in Aussie Rose

What are your go-to products? Please share in the comments!

Heck Yeah It's Friday!

1. All the heart eyes for my new planner! Just 8 bucks from Amazon and it's perfect!!

2. Yesterday we converted Sienna's stroller. For a while we were just clicking in her car seat because she was so small but now she is just barely big enough to ride in the regular stroller! She is in the leaned back position... it also goes all the way down in the sleeping position as well as all the way up in the sitting position.

3. Local weekend happenings: Baltimore Taco Festival @ Power Plant Live, Harry Potter Brunch @ Black Eyed Suzies, Baltimore Craft Beer Festival @ Canton Waterfront, Darlington Apple Festival @ Main Street, Fells Point Fun Festival @ Fells Point, Local Love @ White Marsh Mall

4. Matilda Jane has a pretty awesome promo going on this month. Host a show {either in person or virtual} and get a sleeping bag for FREE. Or spend $175 and get a sleeping bag {$118 value by the way} for just $30! If you're interested in this deal, you can shop my site here. If you want to host a show, please email me.

5. Girl mama's: you NEED to buy this hair bow set. For under $5 and free shipping, you'll get enough colors to match just about ANY outfit! Sienna doesn't have any hair yet so I clip them on to an elastic hair band.

Tea Tree Shampoo by Maple Holistics

It's Wednesday y'all... we've made it halfway through the week! Today I want to share a lovely shampoo that I was given the opportunity to try. My husband actually started using tea tree shampoo years ago and so I followed suit, never looking back.

When I was contacted by Maple Holistics to try their shampoo, it was a no brainer! I quickly visited their website where I read that this shampoo can help slow hair loss... sign me up!!! I'm 4 months postpartum and I'm losing hair like it's nobody's business. No one tells you this about pregnancy, ladies. But it's true.

You'll see on the bottle that it contains over 98 all natural compounds!!! I love that. I also loved that the consistency was not thin... and it lathered! There is nothing I hate more than a runny shampoo that does not lather. Nothing.

The last reason I love this shampoo and the reason I will not go back to anything else... the cooling sensation!!! No other shampoo will leave your scalp feeling exfoliated like this. The great thing about Maple Holistics is that they have a free samples program where you can try their shampoos at no cost! I highly recommend trying the tea tree shampoo but the argan oil shampoo and conditioner is also intriguing.

Sienna's Hospital Pictures

When the photographer came to our room the morning after Sienna was born, we totally took advantage and had a mini photo session right on the hospital bed. She was as fresh as they come and I wanted to document it! We got some family photos done as well and although they are precious, I'm just not sharing them on here... I look less then desirable. And no, I'm not just being petty... I realize I just gave birth and I need to be forgiving to myself but at this point I was also 48 + hours without food, battling preeclampsia, and still on magnesium so I look way worse than your average "just gave birth woman" haha. Okay, without further adieu here is my Sienna Raquel at around 12 hours old!
